Many of Virginia Land Company’s projects are developed by their development subsidiary, C. W. Hurt Contractors, one of the largest land developers in Central Virginia. In their nearly fifty years of experience, Virginia Land Company and C.W. Hurt Contractors have managed all types of real estate development projects, including many key commercial and residential areas in Central Virginia.

Virginia Land Company’s founder and principal, Dr. Charles W. Hurt, brings with him over forty years of experience as a real estate entrepreneur. Dr. Hurt attended the Virginia Military Institute from 1945 to 1947 and graduated from the University of Virginia school of Medicine in 1954. He practiced as a general practitioner in Charlottesville from 1956 to 1958 and served as a Captain in the United States Air Force as a doctor from 1958 to 1960. Dr. Hurt has been extensively involved in all phases of real estate since 1960 and his developments represent a large portion of land development in Albemarle County.

As sole proprietor of Virginia Land Company he is an experienced builder and land developer in the Central Virginia area. A large portion of the subdivisions in and around Charlottesville and Albemarle County are accredited to Dr. Hurt’s development company. His construction projects include apartment buildings, office complexes, commercial buildings, residential homes as well as renovations of commercial and residential buildings. His companies have also provided property management, land excavation, real estate brokerage and architectural services for over forty years.
